When in doubt, wear stripes

Don't you just love it when you discover photos? I've just found these photos on my laptop, they were taken a few months ago in my favourite tunnel, Leake Street Tunnel, by my uber-cool photographer friend, +Dan Liburd

Who doesn't love stripes? Worn thick or thin, in various colours, directions, thickness and structures, stripes are my go-to whenever I'm feeling a little 'blah'. I love how this shirt is oversized with a 70s vibe. Since I snapped this shirt up from Topshop last year I must admit that I have pretty much lived in it. I've been switching it up though, you know, making it work hard, I've teamed it with ripped skinnies, leather trousers and at times (as I have in these pictures )I have worn it as a 'dress.'

As for these flatforms...well yes, I'm STILL obsessed!

Street Style Swagger

I always get asked by people to sum up my style and I answer by saying that my style is a reflection of my personality; playful, quirky and unpredictable. I like to take a trend and spin it on its head by giving it what I call a 'Sheena twist'. I happily love playing with colour, texture and print and creating mix and mashups that probably shouldn't work, but do. More importantly, I never leave my house without the most important accessory; CONFIDENCE!!!

This brings me on to my look in this post. I picked up this glitzy jacket at a vintage sale last year. I rumbled through one of the bargain boxes (I love a good ol' vintage rummage) at the sale and I was happy when I discovered this beauty. It has stand - out written all over it, don't you think? Oh, did I mention that it was only £1? 

It is a great thrown on jacket, so I threw it on over a black, strappy chiffon dress and a pair of black and white aztec boots, not forgetting a bright pink pout (Sheena standard).

As spring has finally sprung, I am super excited to put away all things winter (goodbye, chunky knitwear and heavy faux fur coats) and dig out all things spring (hello, lightweight knitwear, strappy, print dresses, and lots and lots of colour; bright and pastels). I have a few events and fun stuff coming up this month, and I am back to blogging more regularly, so be sure to keep an eye on the blog and the social media accounts, Twitter and Instagram and Facebook

Miss me?

Dear  'Just call me Shoe-na', I've missed you squillions!! But I thought about you soo much and I'm back with lots to write about, so I hope you are ready from me!

On a serious note, I've been a bit quiet on the blog for a few weeks, which isn't cool but the last 4 weeks have been cray, cray! All good things though and I am armd with lots of photos and things to share, so kick back, grab a drink and have a read.

So this heatwave that we have had for umm 2 weeks is just great! Everyone seems happier when the sun is out  in full effect and things that would normally  be a struggle such as Monday mornings, somehow do not seem as bad, don't you think?

This weekend I went the Wireless festival and I had best time, bubbling away to tunes and sipping on cider. Miguel, Trey Sexy Songz and John Legend were brill,  Snoop Dogg Lion  was surprisingly fab;  I say this as since his silly  name change, I have not really been feeling his new material. I assumed that he would perform all his new stuff and not any of  his 'dogg' songs.  My sister assured me that he would but I wasn't convinced so I was playing a toilet break and cider top during his performance, but boy was I wrong. Mr  snoop dogg  lion smashed it! he got the crowd  pumped up and he took it  back to the good old snoop days with songs like 'What's my name' and Drop it like its hot'.  Justin Timberlake killed it too and  the surprise appearance from the Amazing Jay-Z was just  EPIC!

With only a few mins to get ready, I kept my outft quite simple = a all black outfit , except  my footwwear which you can't see in the picture. (Sorry about that

A Fashion night out in Brick Lane

I absolutely LOVE discovering a fabulous new brand or designer so you can imagine my excitement when a few weeks ago I had the pleasure of attending The May Daze Clothing Curiosity Fashion show in Brick lane.  The fashion show was a collaborative evening of fashion, music and art, celebrating the collections of several East London independent brands/designers.

Some of the brands/designers that featured in the show were:

• Des Moines

• Dolly Dare

• Harnett & Pope

• London Loves L.A.

• Raphael Roggendorf

• Tarang Bharti

• Twinne

I did have a cheeky look at all the designers beforehand which I must say increased my excitement for the show even more!!  I was particularly looking forward to seeing Dolly Dare; London loves LA and Aimee Du as these 3 designers are a mixture of my personal style and represent my favourite eras.

The fashion show took place in the uber cool (and dark) cafe 1001, on brick lane.  I arrived just in time to hear the live band; Freddy and the Hoares , (a sort of rock/folk band) who were great!

It was a hot evening outside and even hotter insider so on arrival I headed straight to the bar to order a glass of Gin and tonic and then I attempted to locate my seat which I could not find (grr). I was then kindly invited to join a group of 3 lovely girls from Swallow our words on the front row.

So the show:

Well the show was just fashion fabulous! As each model strutted their stuff down the catwalk looking fantastic I frantically attempted to take pictures, annoyingly my camera decided to stop working so I sadly did not get any great pictures. All  the collections were fab, fab, fab but I must say I was left dribbling over the gorgeous prints from Amiee, the fun and 90-esque products from London Loves La and the fantabulose  I-must-have –now  tutu frocks from Dolly Dare .

Overall  the night was just great! What I loved about this show was the variety on offer,  even though each designer/brand had their own hand writing all pieces screamed London fashion.  In a interview before the show many of the designers/buyers were asked to define London fashion, words such as ‘electric, experimental , inspiring and anything goes’ were used.  This fashion show not only  represented  all these words but it also reminded me why I love, love, love London fashion.

I left the show feeling very inspired, a tad tipsy and a proud Londoner!!
